His is Excellency, Sir William Robinson, the Governor of Western Australia and Lady Robinson were much pleased with Ballarat and the very pleasant afternoon’s amusement provided on Monday by the Ballarat Yacht Club accompanied by Sir Samuel and Lady Wilson, they went on the same evening to Burrumbeet by a Special train, and thence to Ercildoune.
During their stay at that place, they had an opportunity of seeing the elaborate arrangements for washing and shearing the Ercildoune sheep and took with them samples of the wool.
The fish hatching apparatus, with the ponds and reservoirs, were examined with much interest by the viceregal party, and a splendid salmon trout of about 01b weight was caught the herd of Indian Samba dear on the hills afforded good sport, and a fine stag weighing nearly 5001b fell a victim to Sir William Robinson’s rifle.
The party intend returning to Ballarat by way of Mount Emu and Carngham.
